Eight Yakutia districts to be included in Arctic zone
It is necessary to additionally include eight Yakutia districts in the Russian Arctic zone, and this matter will be resolved at federal level before the year is out, Chairman of the republican State Committee on Arctic Affairs Prokopy Nikolayev told journalists.
Efforts to specify the composition of Yakutia's Arctic zone are an important aspect of the work of the republican State Committee on Arctic Affairs at federal level. Under federal legislation, this zone includes only five of the republic's coastal districts. Work is now underway to additionally include eight more northern districts of the republic in the Russian Arctic zone.
"We have submitted additional arguments, and this matter is on the whole being resolved positively at federal level. I hope that the expansion of the Arctic zone will be resolved positively at federal level this year," Nikolayev noted.
