Kalashnikov develops a kit for Arctic special operations forces

The Russian defense manufacturer Kalashnikov Concern and Defense Ministry experts have developed a personal gear and equipment kit for special operations units conducting missions in areas with low temperatures, Kalashnikov Media website reports.

The kit consists of more than 40 items, including a Nanuk raid suit, a special sleeping bag for low temperatures, and transportable containers for medication and food.

"Every aspect of the gear was tested by Kalashnikov specialists and Defense Ministry officers during a March 2018 expedition to Yamal and Taimyr. The temperatures were as low as minus 47° Celsius, wind speed reached at least 25 meters per second, and humidity was as high as 100%," says the report.
