Tourists thought missing in White Sea brought to mainland

An Emergencies Ministry helicopter found a group of tourists on an island in the White Sea (Karelia) and brought them to the mainland, the press secretary of the region's Main Directorate of the Emergencies Ministry, Maxim Roznov, said on Thursday evening.

"They just arrived. The helicopter brought them to Sumsky Posad. All 10 people feel all right and do not need medical assistance," said Roznov.

On Wednesday, the Main Directorate of the Emergencies Ministry in Karelia received information that 10 kayaking tourists from St. Petersburg got lost in the White Sea in Karelia and had last been heard from on July 24.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, they did not register with the ministry, so it is not known when they set off in the White Sea.
