The information about the Russian special force in Norway, published at Aldrimer.no, is fake, according to the Russian embassy in Oslo.

The Norwegian media have already published articles about Russian special units on Spitzbergen.

"We cannot say anything else on this matter but that it is a crude provocation. We regard this article as part of the systematic work to paint a picture of Russia as an enemy led by certain groups in Norway," an embassy spokesperson said.

Diplomats stressed that they see this as a fake and "an awkward attempt" to justify the growing defense expenses.

Such methods "do not comply with the ethics of journalism," the diplomats concluded.
