Far East Development Ministry to launch website on Arctic by 2020

The Russian Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic will launch the multilingual website, arctic-russia.com in 2020, which will feature information on Russia's activity in the Arctic, said Deputy Minister Alexander Krutikov at the parliamentary hearings On the Preparation of the Draft Strategy of the Development of the Russian Arctic Zone until 2035.

"We consider unbiased coverage of Russia's activities in the Arctic a key priority," Krutikov said. "To that end, we will adopt new approaches to communication. As soon as next year, the website arctic-russia.com will be launched; it will provide new and fun facts about Russia's Arctic zone and the activity there in several languages."

Krutikov said the expert community should assist in outlining a clear evaluation system on the efficiency of the policy of sustainable development in the Arctic.

"As part of this strategy, an annual global report will be published featuring a sustainable development index," Krutikov said.
