Taimyr marks International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples
Taimyr hosted festive events devoted to the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North reported, citing the Taimyr PR Administration.
The main festivities took place on Dudinka's Embankment Square.
Representatives of Taimyr's five ethnic groups congratulated Sub-Arctic residents on the holiday from the main stage in their native languages. Four chums were set up on the square where visitors could get an idea of the way of life and crafts of Taimyr's peoples.
In addition, Taimyr hosted on-site fairs, a mobile exhibition of the gold fund collection of the Taimyr House of Folk Art and a photo show devoted to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War titled A Small Nation of Great Victory.
During the festivities, spectators saw performances by the Khuluskan choreographic ensemble from the village of Volochanka, the Khendir youth Nganasan club, the Olonkho children's ethno-folklore group, the Maima family Nenets club, the Alta choreographic ensemble, and the Yukte, Algys and Yurgel ethno-folklore groups, as well as soloists from the city cutlural center.
Festivities devoted to the holiday were also held in other Taimyr towns and villages.
