Winners of Yamal native folklore competition selected

Winners of a competition to collect and preserve the folklore of local indigenous Arctic ethnic groups have been selected in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.

Members of an expert council on the folklore of the indigenous Arctic ethnic groups have awarded six 25,000-ruble prizes for efforts to preserve and collect folklore and to pass it on to the younger generation. Valentina Vello from Nori in the Nadymsky District won the competition in the Soul of Yamal Ethnic Groups category. Yelena Rodyamova from Tarko-Sale won the competition in the Cultural Heritage of the Khanty Ethnic Group category. And Anna Andreyeva from Krasnoselkup in the Krasnoselkupsky District won in the Cultural Heritage of the Selkup Ethnic Group category.

Svetlana Nyadangi from Nori in the Nadymsky District won in the Nenets Ethnic Group's Family sub-category of the Yamal Ethnic Groups' Family category. Valentin Valgamov from Salekhard won the event in the Khanty Ethnic Group's Family category. And Svetlana Sankevich from Tarko-Sale won in the Selkup Ethnic Group's Family category.
