Oil production in the Nenets Autonomous Area up 6.4 percent in 2015

Oil production in the Nenets Autonomous Area in the north of European Russia reached 14.645 million metric tons in 2015. This is 889,000 metric tons or 6.4 percent more than in the previous year, Oleg Belag, Deputy Governor and Head of the area's Department of Natural Resources, Environment and Agriculture, said at a meeting on current issues, as quoted by the local government's press service.

"Mineral producers plan to continue to increase oil production in 2016. Oil companies will produce over 16 million metric tons of oil by increasing production at the Trebs, Titov, Labaganskoye and Osoveiskoye fields, as well as by launching production at the Naulskoye field," the report says.

Natural gas production in the area amounted to 139.2 million cubic meters in 2015. Of this amount, 96 percent was produced at the Vasilkovskoye gas condensate field for supply to local consumers, and the rest was produced to meet the industrial requirements of oil fields.
