Gazprom to start drilling at the Leningradsky area in the Kara Sea in 2017

Gazprom will resume offshore drilling operations in the Kara Sea in 2017, RIA Novosti has reported.

"This year, Gazprom plans to sink an exploration well at the Leningradskoye gas condensate field in the Kara Sea," the company said.

Gazprom received a license for the Leningradskoye field in the Kara Sea in 2013. In July 2016, the license was extended until 2043. The C1+C2 reserves of the Leningradskoye field have been estimated at 1.05 trillion cubic meters of gas and 3 million metric tons of gas condensate.

In 2016, the company wrote in its corporate journal that it would sink 46 offshore wells in by 2025, focusing on the Yamal offshore areas, including the Leningradsky area.
