Nenets and Yamal-Nenets autonomous areas to team up to boost Arctic tourism

The Center for Tourism and Culture of the Nenets Autonomous Area and the Yamaltour travel agency have signed a cooperation deal designed to improve the quality of and facilitate access to Russian tourism products, the Tourism Information Portal of the Nenets Autonomous Area reports.
The sides pledged to work together to boost Arctic tourism and exchange professional experience.

"Signed during the 10th Intourmarket international travel fair, the agreement is yet another important step toward creating favorable socio-economic conditions for the Nenets, the indigenous population of the Nenets and Yamal-Nenets autonomous areas," the report says.

In August 2015, a delegation from Naryan-Mar (the administrative center of the Nenets Autonomous Area) will participate in an exploratory trip for professional travel managers to study the experience of their partners from the neighboring region in organizing Arctic fishing tours. The trip will include a visit to the Polyarno-Uralsky National Park in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.

The sides are also studying prospects for a joint historical and cultural research expedition from Naryan-Mar and Salekhard to the border of Europe and Asia at the foot of the Ural Mountains.
