Photo exhibition Challenging the North Pole opens in Novosibirsk

The photo exhibition Challenging the North Pole, devoted to the 8th National Youth Polar Expedition Skiing to the North Pole, will open in Novosibirsk on September 3, the press service of the Novosibirsk Region government reports.

The expedition was completed on April 17, 2015. Its members included Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov, prize winners of national academic competitions and winners of regional intellectual contests. The expedition was headed by famous Russian travelers Matvei Shparo and Boris Smolin.

"The photo exhibition is aimed at the patriotic upbringing of young people and promotion of a healthy lifestyle," Novosibirsk Region Deputy Governor Viktor Shevchenko said. "The best of the best took part in the expedition: winners and prize winners of domestic academic competitions and regional intellectual contests."

The photo exhibition will take place in several Russian cities. Novosibirsk, the home town of one expedition member, will be the first to host it. The exhibition was organized by the Priklyucheniye [Adventure] Club and was led by polar explorer Dmitry Shparo with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science.
