Kara Expeditions display to be held in Russia, Kazakhstan

Exhibitions covering the Kara Expeditions project will be held between November 30 and December 8 in six cities across Russia and Kazakhstan, Arctic-Info reports. The Kara Expeditions project is designed to preserve the historical memories of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War against the Nazis (1941-1945).

The event, which also involves an exhibition of children's drawings called Kara Sea on Fire, and memorial services, will be held in St. Petersburg on November 30, in Moscow on December 1, in Yekaterinburg on December 3, in Tyumen on December 4, in Kurgan on December 5 and in Petropavlovsk (the capital of the North Kazakhstan Region of Kazakhstan) on December 7.

Students of military colleges and institutes have been invited to the project presentation along with cadets, schoolchildren, students of civil universities and colleges, Great Patriotic War veterans, and representatives of public organizations.

The Kara Expeditions project is sponsored by the Russian Arctic Exploration Center with support from the Department of Research and Innovations and the Department of International and Foreign Economic Ties of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, as well as the office of the Yamal-Nenets governor. The project also involves setting up an electronic database called Yamal's Memory, holding memorial ceremonies and organizing search efforts.
