A monument to Yury Kuchiev, polar explorer and captain of the nuclear-powered  icebreakers "Lenin" and "Arktika", will be installed in Vladikavkaz, Alania State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company reports. The competition for the best design attracted over 40  submissions.  A professional jury chose the design by Yury Zlotya.

It has not yet been revealed when and where the monument will be placed. According to Alania, it might stand on Kotsoyeva Street near the National Scientific Library.
