Novaya Zemlya photo show opens in Moscow

A photo show titled "Novaya Zemlya: From Roze Glacier to Abrosimov Bay," which has opened in Moscow, includes over 80 photographs taken by oceanographer Mikhail Flint and photographers Yaroslav Amelin and  Vladimir Onopko.

The expedition traveled along the eastern coast of the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago aboard the Akademik Mstislav Keldysh research vessel, an area that is inaccessible to most people.

"These photographs made us happy, because we were able to show a unique part of our homeland and the planet. Few people can travel to these high latitudes, but now you can see them through our photographs. We took the majority of photographs so you could see this land as the first travelers saw it 500 years ago. It's really great to discover this beauty," Mikhail Flint said at the opening ceremony.

The exhibit runs through November 13 in the Gallery for Classic Photography at Savvinskaya Embankment 23, Bldg. 1.
