Latest design patrol vessel to be developed for the Arctic

Zelenodolsk Design Bureau is currently working on designing the latest patrol vessel of the reinforced Arc6 ice class with displacement of 6,500 metric tons.

"This spring we completed project development for the reinforced Arc6 ice class with displacement of 6,500 metric tons. We reported on the results to Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy who is in charge of armament, Rear Admiral Viktor Bursuk," the design bureau's chief engineer Yevgeny Matveyev said.

He added that the new vessel will include small- and medium-caliber artillery weapons, electronic warfare systems and optical devices used in Arctic waters observation, TASS reports.

"We completed a major project of a medium-sized sea tanker, which gave us a solid grounding for other similar projects," Mr. Matveyev added.
