An Arctic cosmonaut training center is to be established in the Murmansk Region, Governor Marina Kovtun reported following her meeting with the heads of the Yuri Gagarin Research and Testing Cosmonaut Training Center.

"The Murmansk Region will be the home for the center's training base for drills in the extreme conditions of the north and the Arctic zone," she said in her Twitter account.

The center also intends to hold celebrations in the Murmansk Region in honor of the 55^th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight and to include them in the national plan of events, the governor's press service reports.
