The world's only nuclear-powered icebreaking LASH carrier and container ship, the Sevmorput, has completed its first post-repair cruise from the port of Murmansk to Kotelny Island in the New Siberian Islands, reported the press service of Atomflot, Rosatom's fleet of nuclear-powered icebreakers and special vessels.

"The cruise from Murmansk proceeded as planned. The most difficult part of the cruise was in the Laptev Sea, where the caravan encountered heavy ice," said Vladimir Arutyunyan, head of Atomflot's maintenance department.

The world's only nuclear-powered LASH ship was supported on this cruise by the nuclear-powered icebreaker Yamal. The Sevmorput delivered 5,806 metric tons of construction materials and foodstuffs to Kotelny Island. It will head back to Murmansk after unloading its cargo.
