Center for receiving and processing information from space to be established in Chukotka

A center for receiving and processing information from outer space will be established in the Chukotka Autonomous Area, the Emergency Situations Ministry's website reported, quoting Minister Vladimir Puchkov, who was speaking during a meeting with Chukotka Autonomous Area Governor Roman Kopin.

"We plan to provide equipment to the center for receiving and processing information from space in Chukotka," Puchkov said. "It will be established in Anadyr to track all potentially dangerous risks in real time and exchange information with neighboring regions and even with other countries, such as the United States, Canada and Japan, as part of cross-border cooperation," the minister said.

Governor Kopin assured the minister that the regional authorities would provide assistance in creating the center so that it could start operating as soon as possible.
