Murmansk to host an international Arctic conference

Murmansk will host an international conference, Arctic Polar Routes, as part of the Fourth Murmansk International Business Week, the press service of the Murmansk Region governor reports.

The conference will be attended by President of the Association of Polar Explorers of Russia Artur Chilingarov, members of the Russian Geographical Society, representatives of the Arctic High-Latitude Expedition of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, the Russian State Arctic and Antarctic Museum, the Institute of Marine Research in Tromsø, Norway, and guests from the Faroe Islands and from the Netherlands.

The conference is aimed at reinstating Murmansk as a venue for applied research and educational events involving exploratory and research organizations. The organizers plan to hold annual discussions of issues related to the development of research infrastructure in the Arctic, aided by leading regional institutions and branches of federal agencies.

The Fourth Murmansk International Business Week will be held on November 16-20.
