Alexander Tsybulsky: Nenets Autonomous Area is the Arctic’s core development zone with strong growth prospects

The Nenets Autonomous Area is a core development zone in the Arctic with strong growth prospects, said Acting Governor Alexander Tsybulsky in an interview with TASS.

He was appointed to the post on September 29. Earlier, President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Governor Igor Koshin.

"The Nenets Autonomous Area is a core development zone in the Arctic," Tsybulsky said. "The region has strong prospects for growth in terms of its mineral resources and human capital, although the population isn't very large but it is of high quality. I believe we have potential, and we'll try and make it work for the benefit of the Nenets core zone."

Tsybulsky plans to go to the region soon. "First, I need to see the region and people, and understand what has to be done in the near future," Tsybulsky said. "I'll go there soon." He added that he would analyze the development strategy for the region. "I'm sure that the region has developed in the right direction," he said. "If changes [in the development strategy] are required, we'll definitely make them using our experience of working at the federal level."
