Foreign tourists may be granted visa-free entry to Russian Arctic

The Russian Ministry of Culture has proposed granting foreign tourists, traveling on cruise ships and sports sailing ships, visa-free entry at the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk seaports for 72 hours. Relevant amendments to the government resolution have been posted on the single open data portal for public discussion.

"The draft resolution provides for adding the Arkhangelsk seaport (Arkhangelsk Region), Murmansk seaport (Murmansk Region) and Zarubino seaport (Primorye Territory) to the list. Visa-free travel at the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk seaports will make the Russian Arctic more accessible for foreign tourists," an explanatory note to the document reads.

Currently, foreigners arriving on cruise ferries are allowed visa-free entry for 72 hours at nine seaports.
