Putin hopes only Russian vessels will transport HCs via Northern Sea Route
President of Russia Vladimir Putin hopes that only Russian vessels will have an exclusive right to transport and store hydrocarbons via the Northern Sea Route, TASS reports.
During a meeting on stimulating vessel and sea equipment construction at the Zvezda shipyard, the president raised the issue of granting Russian vessels an exclusive right to transport and store hydrocarbons via the Northern Sea Route.
"This step would allow us to increase the volume of maritime shipping, to strengthen the positions of Russian shipping companies and to create additional opportunities for upgrading their fleet. The draft law has been submitted to the State Duma for consideration, and I hope that it will be adopted very soon," TASS reports, citing the president.
Putin noted that he knew about proposals to include other Russian waters in this regulation. "Let us analyze all these issues so that all our steps are properly balanced. We are in no hurry," the president added.
