Ministry for Development of Far East: Arctic Hectare program to start on August 1

The Arctic Hectare program will be launched on August 1, 2021, and the relevant bill has already been submitted to the State Duma.

“From August 1, 2021, there’ll be a program for allotting free plots of land in the Arctic. People will be able to get hold of these plots six times faster, in only one month, rather than in six months. The relevant bill has been submitted to the State Duma,” Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexei Chekunkov told Ministry Board members.

Earlier, the State Duma passed the first version of a government bill extending the Far Eastern Hectare program to the Russian Arctic. The aim of the bill is to simplify the procedure for allotting plots of land in the Russian Arctic and other Northern, Siberian and Far Eastern territories, to cultivate unused pieces of land and to motivate people to develop their plots they get under this program.
