Murmansk Region residents to receive one million rubles to build a house in the Arctic

Starting July 1, the government of the Murmansk Region will launch the My House in the Arctic program, which will provide a lump sum of one million rubles to families in the region who want to build their own house in the Arctic.

According to Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis, residential housing in the region has become popular over the past few years.

“Starting July 1, we will launch the My House in the Arctic program to help people who want to purchase a prefabricated home or are ready to build their own. It will create constant demand for increased production capacities in the region,” Andrei Chibis said when delivering a report on the government’s performance over the past three years.

According to the presentation, residents of the North will be able to receive a lump sum of one million rubles for the construction or purchase of a house or a prefabricated house. Large families will be eligible to receive up to 1.5 million rubles; 500 million rubles has been allocated for this purpose this year.

The governor also described another project that is being implemented to solve the housing problems of the locals and specialists  who come to work there.

“The Rental Housing for Young Specialists program was designed to encourage people vital to the economy and social sphere to stay in the region. The construction of such housing will begin soon,” Chibis said.

The program offers reasonably priced rental apartments with an option to buy. The total rental space will exceed 7,000 square meters.
