The first ship arrived in the Kaliningrad Region via the Northern Sea Route
The first ship has arrived in Kaliningrad via the Northern Sea Route, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov announced on his Telegram channel.
The Governor noted that the ship left Shanghai, then called at the Port of Arkhangelsk and then headed to Baltiysk, a city in the Kaliningrad Region. Its final destination is St Petersburg.
He emphasised that shipping companies plan to develop this route because it is “cheaper and faster than the Suez Canal.”
