Kobylkin: Waste reform is most difficult in the Arctic
The recycling reform presents the greatest difficulties in Arctic regions, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dmitry Kobylkin said at The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue International Arctic Forum this Wednesday.
"We have launched the [waste] reform almost everywhere in Russia. The Arctic regions are the most difficult in this sense, because we don't know how to dispose of waste without sorting it in the Arctic," Kobylkin said.
"We are coming to the conclusion that we will probably use plasma gasification to get what the Arctic lacks: heat and energy," the minister added.
The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue 5th International Arctic Forum was held in St. Petersburg on April 9 and 10. The State Commission for the Development of the Arctic convened for a meeting on April 9.
