Icebreaker Krasin begins summer navigation season on Northern Sea Route

The Icebreaker Krasin, privately owned by the FESCO transportation and logistics company, has begun its summer navigation season along the Northern Sea Route. The icebreaker has left the port in Vladivostok for the eastern Arctic, FESCO said in a press release.

As part of its summer navigation, the Krasin will guide vessels carrying containers, mixed cargo and industrial goods to the ports of Chukotka and the Northern Sea Route. The season will last from July to November.

FESCO is also preparing its Arc 4 and higher ice class cargo vessels for summer navigation. In all, the company plans to deploy 11 cargo vessels in the Arctic this season.

FESCO icebreakers have guided cargo vessels on the Northern Sea Route since 1956.
