Designers, artists to compete for 40-meter high gas tank space at new Yamal LNG plant

The LNG gas processing company, Yamal LNG, has launched an international competition for the best decorative design for its new liquefied natural gas tanks. Modern artists and designers are welcome, RIA Novosti reports.

"The work of four competition winners will be painted on four LNG storage tanks, over 40 meters in height, which will be part of a new Yamal LNG plant. These will be the world's first industrial design projects in the Arctic," the report reads.

Designs can be submitted until May 26, 2017. Each winner will receive 5,000 euros in prize money. Enrollment is open to both beginning painters and noted masters. The jury will be comprised of experts in modern art from various countries.

According to RIA Novosti, Yamal LNG has begun construction of the liquefied natural gas plant. It will be able to process up to 16.5 million metric tons of gas per year from the Yuzhno-Tambeyskoye gas field. Yamal LNG shareholders include NOVATEK (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%), and the Silk Road Fund (9.9%).
