The Yamal-Nenets Core Development Zone, which is stipulated in the state program for Arctic development, will focus on the transportation projects linked to the Northern Latitudinal Railway (NLR) and the port of Sabetta in the Kara Sea, TASS writes, quoting Yamal-Nenets Governor Dmitry Kobylkin.

"The Yamal-Nenets Core Development Zone is based on several anchor projects, including the Arctic Energy transportation project to build the Northern Latitudinal Railway and the Bovanenkovo-Sabetta railway line and to develop the Sabetta seaport," Kobylkin said.

The state program on Arctic development provides for the creation of eight core development zones — the Kola, Arkhangelsk, Nenets, Vorkuta, Yamal-Nenets, Taimyr-Turukhansk, North Yakutia and Chukotka zones. The concept of core development zones involves the development of a given area as a comprehensive project, with all industry projects interconnected at the design, targeting, financing and realization stages. This will cut all kinds of spending and outlays.
