Mishustin discusses promising spheres of Russian-US cooperation in the Arctic

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that Moscow and Washington should cooperate in the Arctic region and jointly address global climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am convinced that there are many promising areas for cooperation between our countries. For example, Russian and US companies could take part in joint projects in the Arctic to preserve unique ecosystems and ensure balanced development of the region,” Mishustin said in his welcome address to the participants in the meeting of the US-Russia Business Council via videoconference.

In June 2021, President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, during which they exchanged opinions on the prospects for bilateral environmental cooperation in the Arctic.
