Center to study people’s health in extreme conditions to open in Yakutia
It's expected that a center to study people's health in extreme conditions and the reaction of certain materials and structures to low temperatures will be established in Oymyakon (Yakutia), President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeyev told TASS.
"There are very interesting projects [on Arctic research] that we support, such as establishing a center to study people's health in extreme conditions and the reaction of certain materials and structures to low temperatures. Our colleagues plan on building such a center at the Oymyakon Pole of Cold. Now we should focus more on issues related to people's health and rehabilitation in such extreme conditions," the Agency quotes Sergeyev as saying.
According to him, today there are dozens of institutes located in the north, northwest and northeast of Russia conducting Arctic research.
Before the year is out, Russian scientists plan on making two expeditions to the Arctic.
