Arkhangelsk Region and Nenets Autonomous Area collect proposals on establishing a new region

The Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Area have started collecting proposals on establishing a new region. The working group will accept proposals for several weeks.

"We will collect proposals in various ways, including via email and municipality mailboxes. We will work within a strict timeframe," said Vitaly Fortygin, head of the Arkhangelsk Region working group on drafting proposals on the establishment of a new constituent entity in the Russian Federation by merging the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Area, at the kick-off meeting.

According to him, the group will use several channels of communication with the public in order to gather as many opinions as possible. The residents will be able to submit their proposals at the specially created website создаёмновыйрегион.рф. The second option is to use any of the mailboxes in the administrations of their municipalities. And the third way is to send a letter to the regional civic chamber. Locals can also pass along their proposals, initiatives or remarks for the project to any member of the working group.

On May 13, acting heads of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Area, Alexander Tsybulsky and Yury Bezdudny, signed a memorandum on the intention to establish a new constituent entity of the Russian Federation by a merger of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Area.
