Novatek to support social projects in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area

Novatek will allocate money to support educational and development programs for talented children, upgrade sport facilities and other social projects in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area. Governor of the region Dmitry Kobylkin and Novatek Chairman Leonid Mikhelson signed the agreement on financial support the company would provide to certain social, educational and youth projects, the Government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area reported on Thursday.

"Novatek will never forget the help and support of the region during its early days. We understand how important the company's participation is in the social development of the area. We see that schools and kindergartens are built and the quality of healthcare increases… The company's staff in the area has grown by several times. It is important for the families of our employees to receive advanced services for comfortable life," Mikhelson said.

For example, in the Purovsky District the money will be allocated for education and development programs for talented children, training of middle vocational education specialists, support for technical art and school student engineering and innovation activities.

In addition, the company will support the upgrading of sports facilities and participation of athletes in the competitions of various levels as well as cultural events and the protection of the interests and rights of the indigenous peoples.

Money will also be allocated to support disadvantaged families from the Nadym District. It is planned to finance the final stage of the construction of the Kontakt children's athletic school, the government notes.

Novatek will support student team environmental cleanup on the banks of the Seyakha River in the Yamal District. It will also support the resolving of social issues in the Krasnoselkupsky District.
