Arctic State Agrotechnological University established in Yakutia

The Yakutia State Agricultural Academy has received the status of a university and is now called the Arctic State Agrotechnological University.

Last year, the Yakutia State Agricultural Academy became the Russian Ministry of Agriculture's basic higher educational establishment where specialists for traditional industries of the North and the Arctic in the new format go to be trained.

The new university's main aim will be to improve the quality of experts' education for the Arctic agricultural complex, to train and retrain competitive specialists for the labor market and to develop progressive research technologies.

"The university, which is the basic organization where experts for traditional industries of the North and the Arctic are trained, has the job of forming students' professional competences and giving them an opportunity to receive some industrial experience while studying at the university. Every graduate of the Arctic State Agrotechnological University should master advanced information and management technologies," pointed out Rector Ivan Sleptsov.
