Delegates of Arctic: Sustainable Development Conference to discuss civilian aviation development issues and plans 

Tamara Mordasova, the Executive Director of the 8th International Conference Arctic: Sustainable Development, met with Senator Anatoly Shirokov who represents the Magadan Regional Legislature in the Federation Council.

They discussed the event’s business program, specifically, the organizing of a roundtable discussion dealing with the state of the Russian Arctic’s air transport sector and its development plans. They also decided to include other issues on the agenda: support for the development of air traffic in the Russian Arctic and the relevant subsidies, the state of the Arctic air fleet and modernization issues, airports and airfields in Russia’s Arctic territories and the modernization of the aviation infrastructure, recruiting personnel for the Arctic aviation sector, as well as fuel and refueling infrastructure.

Alexander Akimov, Chair of the Conference’s Organizing Committee, said: “I would like to sincerely thank the organizers of and participants in the International Conference Arctic: Sustainable Development for their thorough understanding of Arctic issues and for their persistent striving to find solutions for them. I believe that our conference is very important because the consolidated efforts of experts, scientists, state officials and economists help effectively accomplish our fundamental goals, including the creation of the energy, transport and information-telecommunications infrastructure, resolving environmental safety and social development issues, the development of science and technology in the interests of developing the Arctic in general, and improving the investment climate.” 

The 8th International Conference Arctic: Sustainable Development is scheduled to be held on March 2-3, 2023 at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Moscow.
