Production begins at northernmost coalmine in Krasnoyarsk Territory

The first batch of coal has been shipped from Syradasai, the northernmost deposit of West Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk Territory.

“Superlatives seem to be used here a lot – to describe the conveyor, the technologies and the sea vessels,” Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss wrote on his Telegram channel.

Experts estimate that the deposit has 5.7 billion metric tons of coal resources; its development is included in the Yenisei Siberia comprehensive investment project.

The Syradasai coal deposit, located 370 km north of Norilsk, is being developed by the Severnaya Zvezda company. The required investment is estimated at about 45 billion rubles.

The plan is to develop a surface coalmine, an enrichment plant and a marine cargo terminal on the Taimyr Peninsula by 2025.
