The government to allocate 15 billion rubles for the Arctic development state program

The government plans to spend about 15 billion rubles on the implementation of the Arctic development state program over a period of the next three years.

“At the end of March the Government adopted a state program for the development of the Arctic zone. About 15 billion rubles will be provided for the implementation of this, 3.5 billion already this year,” noted Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin delivering a report on the Government’s performance in 2020 to the State Duma.

He also pointed out that the program’s core objective was to ensure the stable development of the region, attract investors and create new jobs.

The Prime Minister underscored the necessity to create favorable development conditions all over the country. “In some areas it is more difficult to do this for objective reasons. A special approach is required because of their geopolitical situation. Above all, I mean the Far East and the Arctic,” Mishustin said.
