Yamal to take comprehensive environmental measures in 2016

In 2016, the authorities of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area plan to take a number of comprehensive measures aimed at preventing the negative impact of waters on the environment, the official website of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area reports.

This year, a comprehensive project for sediment control of the Polyabta River near Salekhard is to be launched and will last for several years. The 1.4-km section from a boat station to the Udacha residential district will be cleansed first. The boundaries of water protection areas will be specified in the Shuryshkarsky, Tazovsky and Purovsky districts. Water protection areas will be marked by special information signs near Lake Yamylimuyaganto in the Purovsky District and in residential areas in the Krasnoselkupsky District. Design documentation is to be worked out to prevent the negative impact of the Yevo-Yakha River water near the Nartovoye crossing point in the Nadymsky District as well as documentation to carry out work to reduce ice strength on the Pur River near Urengoi village. There are also plans to survey the river near the city of Tarko-Sale  before and after spring flooding.

Environmental measures will be financed from the regional and federal budgets.
