Novaya Zemlya to get military vehicle administration unit

A regional military vehicle administration unit will be established on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, Sergei Postnikov, head of military vehicle administration at Russia's Ministry of Defense, said during a radio broadcast by the Russkaya Sluzhba Novostei (Russian News Service).

"A regional military vehicle administration unit has been established within Russia's northern fleet, and a similar unit will be created for Novaya Zemlya archipelago as soon as troops are deployed there," Mr Postnikov pointed out.

He went on to say that the new unit will be used for local administration such as vehicle registration and technical inspection, adding that traffic control will also be put in place on the coast.

"We are sure to establish these units in places where our troops are concentrated. That said, we'll have fewer people working in these units compared to other Russian regions, since there are fewer roads on Novaya Zemlya," Mr Postnikov said.
