Russia will continue to develop the Northern Sea Route and navigation in the Arctic, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"We will continue to develop the Northern Sea Route, provide navigation in the Arctic, and create developmental support zones necessary for the industrialization of the region. Of course it will require considerable effort to achieve coherence in this unique region to unlock its great economic potential," he said at a meeting on the budget for the Russian regional development programmes.
