Bank of Russia issues a commemorative coin for the anniversary of the Russian nuclear industry

The Bank of Russia has issued a 3-ruble commemorative silver coin. The reverse side depicts the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power station, the nuclear icebreaker Arktika and the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant. The event was timed to mark the 75th anniversary of the Russian nuclear industry.

The Bank of Russia press service reports that the mintage totals 3,000 coins. The coin is made with 31.1 grams of pure silver with a silver alloy standard of 925.

The number 75 is in the centre on the coin’s reverse side and is surrounded by relief images of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power station, the nuclear icebreaker Arktika and the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant against the backdrop of a stylised image of the atom model. The full-circle inscription reads: “75th anniversary of the Russian nuclear industry.”

The obverse side of the coin bears the image of the national emblem of the Russian Federation, its value of three rubles, the year “2020,” the metal’s symbol in the Mendeleyev Periodical Table of Elements, the alloy standard, the trademark of the St. Petersburg Mint and the mass of the precious metal.
