Krasnoyarsk Territory establishes Regional Council on the Development of the Arctic

The Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has established a council focused on the development of the North and the Arctic, according to an executive order of Acting Governor Mikhail Kotyukov.

“The Council on the Development of the North and the Arctic is a permanent consultative body under the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, coordinating the regional government bodies, municipal self-governance bodies and organizations implementing the strategy of the socioeconomic development of the northern and Arctic territories and the support of small indigenous groups in the Krasnoyarsk Territory until 2035,” the executive order states.

Chaired by the Acting Governor, with Acting Chair of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Cabinet of Ministers Sergei Vereshchagin as his deputy, the council includes members of the regional government and heads of northern municipalities.

The Arctic zones of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, populated by more than 237,000 people, comprise Norilsk, the Taimyr and Turukhansk districts and almost ten Evenki towns.
