Website in five languages of Northern indigenous peoples to launch in March

Yakutia Minister of Innovation, Digital Development, and ICT Anatoly Semyonov unveiled the website Ilken, which will cover the life of small Russian Arctic ethnic groups and provide information in their native languages. The region's government is interested in preserving and developing languages in the digital space, he noted.

The Ilken online publication will feature materials in the Dolgan, Even, Evenk, Chukchi and Yukagir languages, spoken by small Northern indigenous ethnic groups, and also in Russian and English. The website, due to be launched in March 2020, will also offer a unique 140-lesson basic course in the five indigenous languages.

The website will focus on current events, as well as the literature, education, history and culture of Northern ethnic groups.
